OUR PERFORMANCE
- Employment for 10,024 people as at 30 June 2011. Assuming that each employee supports 10 people, it is estimated that Aquarius’ economic reach extends to more than 100,000 people in all.
- R1.46 billion (SA only) paid to employees (both directly and indirectly). This includes salaries and wages paid by both Aquarius and its contractor companies and includes contributions to retirement benefit and health care funds.
- $37.1 million paid in dividends to shareholders at the Group level.
- R7.5 million in local economic development/ corporate social investment in South Africa and $2.04 million (equivalent to approximately R14 million) in Zimbabwe.
Aquarius acknowledges that as a mining and processing company, its activities have an impact on the environment – land, water and air as well as fauna and flora – surrounding its operations. Aquarius also acknowledges that it has a responsibility to safeguard the environment and to minimise its impact and use of resources.
