  • R1.46 billion (SA only) paid to employees (both directly and indirectly). This includes salaries and wages paid by both Aquarius and its contractor companies and includes contributions to retirement benefit and health care funds.
  • $37.1 million paid in dividends to shareholders at the Group level.
  • R7.5 million in local economic development/ corporate social investment in South Africa and $2.04 million (equivalent to approximately R14 million) in Zimbabwe.

Aquarius is aware of the impact of its operations from a social perspective. This includes both the creation of jobs and the employment of people and the responsibilities associated with this, particularly the safety and occupational health of these employees, and also the responsibilities arising as a result of the Company’s social impact on the communities living in the vicinity of our operations.

Aquarius acknowledges that as a mining and processing company, its activities have an impact on the environment – land, water and air as well as fauna and flora – surrounding its operations. Aquarius also acknowledges that it has a responsibility to safeguard the environment and to minimise its impact and use of resources.
